My grandmother was recently diagnosed with Diabetes.  At first, the family thought this meant the end.  Foot or leg amputation, constant finger pricks, and lots of medicine.  Since she's been diagnosed she has been able to manage the Diabetes with a change in lifestyle.  She began exercising a lot more and she changed her diet.  I'm happy to report that she does not take medicine.

Now of course, this won't be the same for everyone, but it's encouraging to know that Diabetes doesn't mean the end...it can mean the begining of a new, healthier you!

Diabetes is not a death sentence, Type2 is DEFINITELY manageable! My mother has been Type 1 since she was 16 and is now a perfectly healthy 58 year old. There is a higher level / standard of self care and discipline, but as long as you take care of yourself and do what your doctor says IMO you can definitely manage it.
