Air Conditioner: If you have central air conditioning, call a licensed HVAC professional once each year to do routine maintenance. Otherwise, maintenance for your air conditioning unit will depend on if it is in the wall or the window.

• Window: During the off-season, pull out the grill and vacuum with a brush attachment. Remove window units for the off-season.

• Wall: Cover the back of wall air conditioners with a piece of plastic or material that the manufacturer provided with the unit when you purchased it. Also, insulate the front of the air conditioner:

• If you are handy, build a box to fit over the front of the air conditioner
• Otherwise, cover with plastic sheeting, such as storm insulation material.
