How to Apply for Low Income Heating Assistance Program (LIHEAP)?

To apply for LIHEAP, you can contact your state’s LIHEAP office. 


What You Need to Provide When Applying
To apply for LIHEAP, you will need to provide the following: 
  • Recent copies of your utility bills
  • A recent payroll stub or other proof that shows your current income
  • Proof of any other income you receive, such as Social Security, Unemployment Insurance, Pension Funds, or disability. 
  • A notice of final utility termination (if you’ve received a shut-off notice from your energy company)
  • Proof of your current address, such as a lease, deed, or property tax bill
  • Proof of total members living in your household, such as birth certificates or school records
  • Social Security cards or numbers for all people living in your home
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent residence

I'm Amanda. Im 20 years of age. Single mom. Trying to find a job. In college. I have a 9month old son. I;m barley making it. Moved to trailor this weekend. Rent is $275. I need to pay gas and electric. Waiting for child support otherwise I recieve $361 from FIP, but $200 is for diapers n baby food.

Hi, Im from wisconsin and lost my job. My electric bill is over $700 right now. I have 2 boys to support, and make little to nothing with unemployment. Soon April will be here and I will not be able to come up with all of that by then. I need help or they will shut me off. I got so far behind due to having to buy fuel. We have to stay warm. My parents are trying to get fueling assistance, my children and i live with them. my dad has temparary guardianship of them but i recieve food stamps and cash assistance.... would that stop them from recieving fueling assistance?

MY NAME IS gregory hardeman, i take care of my mother,me and my brother,we lost our job,ran out unemployment funds,my mother is on a breathing machine we cant afford to pay 740.$ utility bill!thankyou
