How to Report a Crime in Raleigh

How to Report a Crime

The Raleigh Police Department strives to make Raleigh one of the safest cities in America. You can help by reporting crimes that occur in your community.

It is critical for police to have as much information as possible about the crimes committed in our city. You can report the details of a crime that you witness by calling:
  • 9-1-1 for crimes in progress
or
  • (919) 996-3335 to speak to an officer about a crime that occurred in the past
By doing this you help the police gather vital information to solve the crime you reported, solve crimes that may be related, conduct investigations, and build cases against criminals.

You can report crime tips anonymously through the Raleigh Crime Stoppers Program. Call (919) 834-4357 (834-HELP) to report crime anonymously and potentially earn a financial reward.

If you would like to search the crime activity on your street or area, you can use the Raleigh Police Department’s online crime mapping provided through iMAPS site. This system provides 30 days of data on the crimes of arson, motor vehicle thefts, larcenies, burglaries, aggravated assaults, robberies, and homicides. After entering your street address on the right-hand side, click on “Raleigh Crime Search” on the bottom right to open up that menu. You can check boxes that turn on or turn off specific crimes and other data layers. Crime mapping is among the tools used daily by the Raleigh Police Department to monitor incidents and address criminal patterns.
