You can usually register your pet when it gets a rabies shot. You can register by mail using this application, online at this link, or in person at these veterinarian locations.

 

Registration is $7 for a pet that is spayed or neutered or $14 for a fertile pet. After you register, you will receive a numbered tag for your pet’s collar. If your pet gets lost, animal control officers can use the tag to find its home.

 

Pet owners who fail to register their pets are subject to a $50 fine.
