If you replace your old toilet with a new, more efficient model, you may get up to $100 from the City of Raleigh. The program will run from July 1st, 2011 to June 1st, 2012.
The city is providing rebates of up to $100 to help cover the costs of new toilets. To be eligible, you must be a City of Raleigh water customer in Raleigh, Garner, Knightdale, Wendell, Zebulon, Wake Forest or Rolesville. To get the rebate, you must buy a new toilet with the label EPA WaterSense.
The city is offering the rebates to encourage people to buy toilets that save water. Some old toilets can use up to seven gallons per flush. Old toilets also are a big source of leaks. In fact, toilets consume more water than any other indoor appliance.
WaterSense toilets use less than 1.28 gallons per flush. Currently there are 37 brands and more than 320 toilets with the WaterSense label.
