If there are several state or community colleges that you’re interested in applying to, keep in mind that each application costs $20 to $70 depending on the school. Having a plan and finding ways to save will help you apply to the schools you want without breaking the bank.

Here are a few ways to save on college admission fees:

• Check the school website: Some schools will waive the application fee if you apply online and others may offer discounts depending on when you submit your paperwork.
   
• Take advantage of fee waivers: Talk to your counselor. Most colleges will waive the application fee for those who qualified for the SAT or ACT waiver. Students with approved forms from The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) may also qualify for a fee waiver. Check to see which schools waive fees.
   
• Do your homework: Make a list of your top colleges and do some research to narrow down your choices. Once you know which schools best fit your needs, you can limit the number of applications you send out.
