To receive financial aid at Wake Tech, you have to first fill out the
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). After your application has been processed, you will be notified by Wake Tech if you need to fill out any supporting documents.
If you plan to enroll to Wake Tech for the following semester, you should complete the FAFSA online and provide all required paperwork to the Financial Aid Office (Is this right? The FAFSA is submitted directly to Wake Tech?) by the following dates:
- Fall Semester: FAFSA, May 1; required paperwork, June 1
- Spring Semester: FAFSA, Oct. 1; required paperwork, Nov. 15
- Summer Term: FAFSA, April 1; required paperwork, April 15
Note: If the date listed above falls on a weekend or holiday, the paperwork is due the next business day.
If you miss the deadlines, Wake Tech will continue to process your financial aid, but you may have to pay out of pocket for the upcoming semester and wait for reimbursement once the financial aid process is complete.
Financial aid programs offered specifically to Wake Tech students:
Foundation Scholarships: These include a range of merit and financial need scholarships. They require an additional application process. There are two types of foundation scholarships:
- Financial Need Scholarships -- Open to students in good academic standing who can demonstrate a financial need. Applications are accepted between March 1 and April 30 for the fall semester.
- Merit Based Scholarships -- Awarded for exceptional academic performance at Wake Tech. Students must have completed at least one semester before applying for this type of scholarship. Applications are accepted once a year, between Sept. 1 and Oct. 31 for the spring semester. You don’t need to fill out the FAFSA to qualify for this scholarship.
The Great Scholarship Project: This program offers financial support or scholarships to high school graduates interested in studying in the fields of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
