Information about Raleigh Colleges and Universities
Raleigh is the home of six colleges and universities. They offer a wide variety of educational opportunities such as four-year degrees, two-year degrees, certificates and vocational training programs. Classes are available on campuses and online.
 
This is an independent, private women’s college that offers a strong liberal arts education. Meredith promises students that they will learn in a rigorous academic, attend small classes and have the chance to develop their leadership skills.
 
This is a public, coeducational, extensive research university. Historically, NC State has been known for its strength in agriculture, life sciences, design, engineering, and textiles. However, the school offers many other programs at the undergraduate and graduate level. 
 
This is a private, coeducational, liberal arts institution that is affiliated with the Episcopal Church. It was founded as a college for black students but now has a diverse student body that is multi-national and multi-racial.
 
This is the first historically Black university in the South founded in 1865. Shaw is a private co-educational liberal arts institution affiliated with the Baptist Church. The university awards degrees at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
 
This is a two-year, public institution that offers associate's degrees, diplomas and certificates, and  many non-credit training programs. It is the second largest community college in North Carolina.
 
This is a private four-year university that offers an innovative academic programs rooted in the liberal arts tradition.
