Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP)

This program helps pay for the cost of education for reserve service members who are called to serve in a war or national emergency. Those that complete at least 90 consecutive days of service are eligible to receive money for educational expenses.

A student may be eligible for this benefit if:

  • They’re a reserve servicemember who served for at least 90 consecutive days in a war or national emergency, or were injured in active duty.
  • They’re a National Guard member that was in active service for at least 90 days

The rate varies depending on how long the student served and the type of education or training they want. For traditional institution-based education, the rates are currently as follows:

Get information about current benefit rates for other types of education and training.

In most cases, the money can be used for any education programs, EXCEPT national exams or testing. If training time is less than 1/2 time, however, the benefit may be limited to tuition and related fees only.
