Each branch of the service offers a Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP) which pays for a portion of qualified educational expenses.
Elilgibility
A student may be eligible if:
- They request SLRP benefits at the time they enlist
- They score a 50 or higher on the Armed Forces Qualifications Test (AFQT)
- They or a parent have qualified Federal education loans such as Perkins, Stafford, PLUS or consolidation loans.
- They meet the other requirements determined by the branch of service they’re in.
Value
The amount of the benefit depends on the branch of service a student chooses. Ask a military recruiter for more specific information.
How to apply
A student must request this benefit at the time they enlist. Military recruiters will provide information about how to apply.
