Raleigh Summer Youth Employment

The Raleigh Summer Youth Employment Program allows young people ages 15-18 to develop their skills and prepare for future employment by spending the summer working for the City of Raleigh.

Young people in the program work 20 to 30 hours a week June 11 through August 10. They earn $7.25 an hour.
 
The summer youth employees also participate in Life Skills Development workshops throughout the year. The workshops help young people develop leadership characteristics and other skills.
 
To apply, you must participate in an interview and fill out an application at one of the dates and locations shown below. Applications are not available prior to the interview date. All sessions are from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • March 6 - Millbrook Exchange Park, 1905 Spring Forest Road
  • March 8 - Biltmore Hills Community Center, 2615 Fitzgerald Drive
  • March 12 - Greystone Recreation Center, 7713-55 Leadmine Road
  • March 14 - Marsh Creek Community Center, 3050 New Hope Road
  • March 16 - Roberts Park Community Center, 1300 E. Martin St. 
  • March 20 - Chavis Community Center, 505 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
  • March 22 - Tarboro Road Community Center, 121 Tarboro Road
  • March 23 - Worthdale Community Center, 1001 Cooper Road
  • March 26 - Lions Park Community Center, 516 Dennis Ave. 
  • March 28 - Method Pioneer Building, 514 Method Road 
Applicants must be residents of the City of Raleigh and age 15-18 as of May 31, 2011. Only one member of household may participate in the program.
 
At the time of the interview, you must provide proof of age and proof that you are a City of Raleigh resident. To meet this requirement, you must submit a clear photocopy of one of the following:
  • North Carolina driver’s license with photo; or
  • North Carolina learner’s permit with photo; or
  • North Carolina identification card with photo.

Note: Copiers are not avilable at interview sites. Applicants will not be interviwed without these documents. School identification cards will not be accepted as proof of age and City of Raleigh residency.
