Help a child: Become a Foster Grandparent
The Foster Grandparent Program provides a way for people who are 55 and older to volunteer their time helping children with special needs.
Being a Foster Grandparent is not a job, but people who serve as Foster Grandparents receive a small payment and help with food and transportation costs. Foster Grandparents serve an average of 20 hours a week.
Foster Grandparents work in schools and other settings. They give children the individual attention they need to succeed in life.
The City of Raleigh Community Services Department is in charge of the Foster Grandparent Program in Wake County. The Department interviews and trains people who want to be Foster Grandparents.
